A great opportunity to join a collaborative and supportive team of passionate Kaiako, dedicated to inspiring and scaffolding confident and competent learners.
The organisation
Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki |Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) has a long history in New Zealand in the Early Childhood Education sector, beginning in 1908 in Freemans Bay. We now have 107 kindergartens, four KiNZ centres five Playgroups, and support services staff forming our organisation.
Ours is a bicultural environment, where the learning framework of Te Whāriki underpins all we do, and where the good of our tamariki and their parents and whānau sits at the very heart of our organisation. At AKA, we provide a safe and enriching early childhood learning environment where children can develop as confident and competent learners. Our kindergartens offer quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) to a diverse range of children. Our Auckland-wide network of kindergartens are places where young Aucklanders get the very best start to prepare for school and beyond - building the foundations for a lifetime of learning.
The kindergarten
At Hobsonville Kindergarten we view all tamariki as Tāonga (gifts). We acknowledge and celebrate the kētē of skills, knowledge and life experiences each individual child brings with them.
We believe tamariki are citizens of today and support them to become leaders of tomorrow. We hold the values of respect, equity and integrity and support our children to develop these attitudes. We advocate for tamariki rights. We support the development of tamariki social competency through positive guidance strategies.
We encourage tamariki to participate in a rich learning environment where tamariki learn to view themselves as learners and become familiar with the process of learning. We believe free play empowers tamariki to take responsibility for their own learning and development, creating a passion for lifelong learning. We encourage tamariki to learn together, developing their independence and interdependence skills.
Whānaungātanga (respect for people, places and things), underpins our daily practice. We acknowledge and respect Tiriti ō Waitangi and strive to provide an environment that upholds the values and beliefs of both treaty partners. We warmly embrace the diversity of cultures within our kindergarten whānau and strive to be a part of a democratic, inclusive, safe and happy community.
