Responsibilities:
- rolling logs from trucks and conveyors to log decks, saw carriages and stacking bays
- placing logs and wood billets onto conveyors and lathes for processing into chips, veneers and pulp
- sorting and stacking timber during milling
- placing timber for processing by machines and unloading cut timber from tail end of machines
- assisting with setting up and operating plant and ancillary equipment used in the manufacture of sheets and boards
- transporting processed wood products, such as plywood, chipboard sheets and panels, to work areas
- clearing blockages in machines
- assisting with measuring and cutting materials
- packing and loading finished products for transportation
- cleaning work areas, tools and equipment
- Read detailed architectural drawings, schematics, shop drawings, and blueprints
- Prepare and set up machines and tooling for woodwork manufacturing
- Lift wood pieces onto machines, either by hand or with hoists
- Operate woodworking machines, including saws and milling and sanding machines
- Listen for unusual sounds and watch for excessive vibration in machinery
- Ensure that products meet industry standards and project specifications, adjusting as necessary
- Select the proper cutting, milling, boring, and sanding tools for completing a job
- Use hand tools to trim pieces or assemble products
- Maintain machines, such as by cleaning and oiling them or replacing worn blades
Requirements:
- Job Location : Victoria Island , Lagos State.
- Experience in the wood industry is preferred.
- Experience as a wood / furniture worker
- 2 -4 years of experience working as a wood factory worker is an added advantage.
